The Lake 6 Loop is a gentle 1.3-mile circuit that begins and ends in the village of Cerney Wick, tucked into the Gloucestershire side of the Cotswold Water Park. It's graded easy — flat underfoot, with only a few metres of rise across the whole route — making it a friendly option for families, older walkers and anyone easing back into the boots.

Most walkers cover the loop in anywhere from half an hour to an hour, depending on pace, though it's the kind of route that rewards lingering: watch for swans and grebes on the water, swap nods with the dog walkers, and take in the quiet rhythm that the lakes are known for. Times vary with weather, company and how often you stop to look up.

From Primrose Lodge it's a five-minute drive, or a longer connecting walk if you'd rather link it to the Lake Pochard paths and turn the morning into something bigger.

Quiet lake in the Cotswold Water Park

Underfoot & overhead

Easy ground. Big skies.

Most paths are flat, well-surfaced gravel — pushchair and wheelchair friendly, kind on older knees. The Water Park is also one of the UK's best inland birding spots: bitterns winter here, ospreys pass through.
